STC of ICF vs SIP
This may not be the correct forum for this, but here goes.
Do any of you have experience with or know of a comparison or STC (sound transmission class) of ICF (insulating concrete forms) and SIP`s (structural insulated panels)?
I know that because of the concrete in ICF`s, the STC is low and depending upon the choice of windows, can be VERY low. There are many acoustical absorbants available for conventional platform frame construction, none to my knowledge of which are composed of expanded polystyrene. And polystyrene by itself does not attenuate sound well, it acts more like a skin on a drum much like gypsum wall board does.
I've found little in my search for answers, this forum among others being a last resort.
Cheers,
