    texture rotation

In the attached image I created a polyline rectangle in elevation. Then I rotated it and converted it into a polyline solid. I applied the brick texture and then rotated the texture and pattern 90 deg to get it to run down the slope. The edge of the polyline solid is not doing what I was expecting. Is there a better way to achieve this result?

P.S. That is my photo and I invoke all copyright laws in accordance with bla, bla, whooptidoo. :Sly:

I think you will need to use another very thin solid with another customized brick pattern.

Or, make the object in Sketchup where you can assign different colors to the different faces which allows it to have different textures on different sides, unlike creating it in Chief.

    Bryce,

You can do this in Chief, no need for Sketchup.
    Use a Box Primitive,
    Size and rotate as desired.
Explode - this will give you 6 Faces that you can apply different materials to.
Select all the Faces and Block.
    This creates an Architectural Block.

Glenn--Great tip! I have one question. I'm looking at the "edges" of the tile and the red area and they look like they have a little depth or return around the edge. (1/8"-1/4"). Is that correct? Was this accomplished just by the different textures on the different faces or was there a little more done to accomplish this "depth" of material?

    Larry,

Not sure what happened with that image.
I did it pretty quickly and didn't keep the model.
I just did another one and it doesn't show the "thickness".

Glenn--The way the box shows on the second one is the way mine shows. When I saw your first sample the "thickness" caught my eye right away. I know you know a lot of "tricks" and I thought that that was one I really wanted to learn. If you ever figure out what you did to get those results, let the "gang know. Have a great day!

    Larry,

    Not hard to do.
    Explode the Box primitive.
    Select a face.
Extrude it in the correct direction.
    This creates a new Solid.
    Explode the new solid.
    Apply materials.
Block it all up when you are finished.
