    Thanks for all of the feedback. I finally gave up, shot a rendering and fixed in PS. Yea Chief!

    The other problem with the Join Roof tool is that it is not consistent with what roof edge is moved. Which on a simple gable roof - no big deal, on a Gambrel - with six (3 each side) roof planes that need to have the same TOF and TOR elevations. the gambrel I have now looks a wee bit wonky.
