It's really not that much more involved.
Use the 'light bulb' icon and adjust the two sun angles in the light dbx.
Leave environmental light and photons off while you're testing to speed things up and try different sun intensities. You can also use the 3D defaults for adjusting exterior ambient as well to brighten/darken a scene.
If you have the env. light and photon off you can get an idea within 30 - 40 second of where you're and start adjusting. The purpose of Government is to control the common resources, not the common man.

Thanks guys! I will check this out. I guess I built up the exterior raytraces to be more then they are since I thought there was a lot more involved with sun, environment etc.
Thanks for the specs!Chad Cardin

Jintu that is a really good ray-trace. Its a great example of what Chief is capable of - nobody should be able to find fault with that level of quality.
Unfortunately it makes mine look very basic!Gordon Martinsen

I guess I am too impatient to take the trouble with getting everything set up correctly in the first place. I want to concentrate on the design then hit a button and get results like yours even though I know the secret to top quality is in the lighting and material settings.
I think a large number of users work the same way.Gordon Martinsen

Jintu,
Great rendering! I had to go back and see it, I skipped over it reading the specs and then when I saw everyone talking about something I missed, I had to go back. Looks fantastic! Love the unique elevation! Of course the sunlight and that looks great too!Chad Cardin

Shadows on grass help hide flatness of its texture I guess.

Jintu,
Yes, very nice RT!. THe things that make it nice are not only the settings but the composition. Nicely designed house to begin with and the sun coming through and shadowing the front of the house adds texture. I think some miss that just good RT settings will not make a bland scene look great. It takes design, composition and textures!Dennis Gavin CR, CKBR

Jintu: How did you get the backlight from the outside to do that? Did you place a light outside??
