OMG! Brilliant!
Before I recreate this for myself, because you've done it now, show us 3D views from inside and out.Gene Davis

Pretty Clever Rod!
Now why can't Chief just let us do it without all the gymnastics?

Here are the interior and exterior shots. I show a comparison with a standard corner window. Picture 1 and 2 are inside standard and inside workaround, respectively. Picture 3 and 4 are outside standard and outside workaround, respectively.
For some reason the lintel casing is melting down the right side window, but this occurs for both the standard and workaround, so I don't think it has to do with the workaround method at all.Rod Kervin

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but the easier approach is to simply get a running start with each window and jam them into the corner. Here are my pics using this approach.

I can't get the post to show as a 4x4, even though the windows are 4" from the corners. Looks like the post shows as the framing layer thickness regardless.
I can probably adjust the frame, sash & trim values.
Looks promising, though.
Thanks,

Scott,
How did you get your post to size down to a 4x4? I wasn't able to get that. I don't think Rod's post is a 4x4 either. Do a screen capture w/ one of your windows selected.

Scott,
I tried that. Slammin' the window into the corner after a 50' acceleration.
It worked ..........kinda. The post is a full 4"x 4", but...........what does your post measure?

Scott, if you do it that way you get whatever chief gives you. When I do it I don't get a 4x4 post, I get 2 7/16" x 2 7/16". The purpose of this workaround is to get EXACTLY what you want, and not count on just slammin it in there as hard as you can to get what you want.
Jim, I don't mean to imply that you automatically get a 4x4 post in the corner. What you are seeing is likely the window frames colliding in the 3D image. The purpose of this workaround is to place the windows properly so that after the R.O. there is enough room for the 4x4 post. That way the windows are dimensioned in the correct place for the framers to build the R.O. I'm not sure that the plan graphic or 3D is accurate.Last edited by sherpa_jones; 12-22-2010 at 04:52 PM.

Methinks, without doing the experiment, that the post distance one gets corresponds to the wall makeup.
And in Rod's 3D exterior view, Chief has blown away one of his vertical casings.
Alas. Maybe Chief will have remembered to have done this fix, one to allow the user to control the post size, in X4.
Hey! In the interim, there are workarounds. I love workarounds! In this one, done quick and dirty to achieve the 2D con-docs, a CAD patch is used for the corner, and the corner windows have their labels overridden in the LABEL tab box of the spec dialog, to read as they should. Actual windows are butted tight with no corner "push." 3D camera shots are not "true," but only the cognescenti can tell the diff.Gene Davis

Hey Guys,
I thought that corner windows were fixed in the X3 update. Are your suggestions mainly for correcting the corner post or for previous versions?Chief Bug Fix Department
