I am curious whether the areas considered to be light leaking are actually a condition similar to occlusion, but instead of darkened areas we are getting additional light bouncing in these locations.
Not to say that there are not leaking situations as well, but some of these like the ones by the stair rails look like they may be from some other cause.
It would certainly be good to get to the bottom of this. These glowing areas have been a problem with X4 as well.Rod Cole

This is my first raytrace. Its too dark and many other issues around it since its my first but it only took a few minutes and looks decent.

Thanks Jintu!
Ok so heres the latest X5 raytrace dilemma... the first one is done with all can lights as spot lights, the second in point lights and the third all spot lights except for one point light behind the camera. Im really not liking the spot lights because they have a lot of light bleeding going on around the edges of the window casing, yet the point lights definition around the cans are unrealistic. The mix between the two seem best but still dont understand why Im having the affects with the spot lights. In all pics, lights were adjusted to 100% specular and emissive.Chad Cardin

Chad, it seems that the spotlights exacerbate the light bleed problems from photon mapping. Do you get the same light bleed problem when you run the all-spotlight render with photon mapping turned off?

Kathleen,
Yikes! Im still new at this whole raytracing... I dont even know where to select or not select photon mapping. I was just recommended to turn up emissive and specular to 100% but dont remember when you should or should not select off photon mapping. Can you fill me in??Chad Cardin

Jintu,
Thanks for the reply. If I turn off the sunlight and environment light, wont that not allow sunlight to come into the windows and make the raytrace look less realistic? I reviewed some of the pics you posted on here and they look really good in part because the sunlight that comes in mixed with interior lighting has a good mix. Could you clarify this? If possible, could you post your screen shots of the settings, so I can better see what selections you make in your renderings with sun and interior light selections?Chad Cardin
