exporting to a bmp file
When I export a rendered file in CA 7.01 I end up with a postage size image that is completely black, can anyone suggest why this is happening, thanks.

No, I haven't had this happen since early Version 6. What is your screen resolution, "Render" settings, how uch RAM do you have, what video card are you using, are its drivers (video) up to date? What is the "Version Date" of the V7 you are using? What do you actually "do" when exporting the rendered view to gain such a result?

I have a high resolution ntiva card (1600X1200) with 32meg of memory on board, I have 384meg of system memory, I have a gateway 750MHZ with windows 98. I am using 7.01 the latest version of CA. I use the export command for bmp export and am unable to get anything other than a black postage size graphic image. I have a similar computer at my office and have no problem with the exporting feature. I hope that this gives you enough information, thanks.

I was able to use cltrl-print screen and paste an image into my paint program. So what is the reason why I am unable to export?

Since I never had the problem myself, I really don't know, sorry. Wish I knew.

Renderings(no shadows) export fine for me on an AMD 400 w/only 8m of on board video, running W98SE...I would suspect a video driver problem....

Your system is very similar to mine (PIII 750, 384Mb RAM, 16Mb Video bd.) I run at a screen resolution of 1024x768 though, try lowering your screen resolution and try again, many video cards have an "Optimum" screen resolution/color setting to get the best OGL Renderings, that may, I say may, be your problem, check it out and see by trial and error. Then let us know how you make out.

Thank you.
Try this: get your rendered view on screen and instead of using the "Export Image" command, press "Control-Print Screen" keyboard command, then open "Microsoft Paint" or some other image editing program and select the "Paste" command to bring the "Screen Capture" from the "Windows Clipboard" into "MS Paint" and see if you get a different result. Then let me know what happens.

Ctrl+PrintScrn does nothing on my system ....try either Alt+PrintScrn(for active window) or simply PrintScrn(entire desktop) to copy an image to the clipboard to paste into another app...

I updated my version of 7.01 (March 15,2201) to the most recent 7.01 (April 12, 2001) and the problem is gone. It must have been a bug in that particular version. Thanks for all the imput.
