Advanced deck framing...material problem
Has anyone found that the advanced deck framing always discards your chosen materials for decking and some platform edges. And it will not replace them even if I go back into plan view and open the dbx for the deck, and make sure the decking material I chose is the correct one. The decking material stays the default fir. The only way I can change it is if I get the material painter and tediously click on every plank individually. Come on, there has to be something wrong. That is rediculous. Any thing that I may be missing?
This problem ceases when I cancel the advanced deck framing.

When Chief builds deck framing, it creates actual framing members. These framing members will use your default framing materials not your room materials. You can change the material on your decks using the material painter, group selecting your framing members and changing them, or by changing your faming material defaults in the framing dialog.

Thanks Dermot. When I go to framing materials dbx, I do not find any deck specific info. There is no option to change the decking material. Just general, joists, and rafters. If I changed any of those it would alter the entire house, I need to know how to alter just the decking material. If I go to the materials list to edit, I can not find any decking specific material either.
Why is it that I can not use the material painter to just do the entire deck. Or more importantly, why doesn't the materials tab work in the room specification dbx for the deck after the advanced framing is executed. It seems that this should still work. I am still puzzled by this. More assistance please.

I'll do the group select. But it seems the room specification dbx should be able to do this with the materials tab.
