    attaching garage - wall connections

I'm in the process of modeling my existing house and then modeling a garage addition.

Aside from having a hard time adjusting my floor heights to match existing model (it is a colonial style modular so the floor offsets are a bit larger than usual because of the framing requirements of each module) I am having trouble "butting" the floors.

When I draw the "new" walls for the garage addition attached to existing exterior walls I can't seem to make the second floor wall butt together seamless. ANy ideas. Must I change the old exterior walls to interior?Click image for larger version.

Just insist that they align manually. Walls go where they are commanded to go, wall poly-lines are adjustable, dialog box settings are adjustable, adjust them to suit your purposes.

Your walls might have a main layer assigned to the surface layer and the other to the framing layer. Check your wall definitions

The wall definitions need to have the main layer the same to align up.

Best I can tell, the wall types are identical. I think it has something to do with the existing house portion that I am connecting to is still defined as an exterior wall perhaps?

When I modeled the house as currently built I had no problem. IT started to happen when I added the garage before changing the existing exterior wall to an interior wall definition.

    ANy other ideas?

    Thanks for the help guys.

Update. I just realized that I can use a command "align with walls below". That seemed to fix the problem.

    Thanks for the help fellas.
