Not sure why it's not snapping now. BUT -- here what I did. Place a way from cabinet.Set height.Take a top orthographic view. Select recpt using control- select then move next to cabinet. You may have to temp remove counter top.

Gerry, I can already get it to look right in 3d and in plan view. The point is the bounding box is not in the correct location and I assume that CA's intent was for the outlet to snap to the cabinet, which it does not snap currently.

Sorry if I was not clear before, but by manipulating it, I can get it to be correctly placed in both plan and 3d. The point being the bounding box is incorrect and the outlet does not snap to cabinet.

Yep -- if you twist it around exactly right it will snap, but I doubt if I could repeat now. Need to re size the bounding box to get the origin right as Perry mentioned. I'll look at this when I have some time. I think the problem is really that Chief assumes placement from only one direction. If you rotate- everything is messed up. Just a limitation (another bear trap) to deal with.

Are you guys using the right symbol? There's one called duplex (horiz) that is oriented the wrong way and would have to be rotated. The one called duplex (horizontal) is already in the correct orientation.

Otherwise, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Update -- In an attempt to repair some of the damage caused by my misunderstandings I made up a small demo. It appears that everything is correct both with the bounding box and origin. Just need to properly align the 2D symbol. -- my bad.

Well thank goodness. I thought I was some kind of a simpleton just dragging the symbol onto the cabinet and having it work with very little fuss

Gerry, thanks for that video. the problem as I see it is, its still wrong, the 2d prongs should locate like the others you put in the plan. Those should also have a(GFCI) label in the block. Easy to change, but It should come that way OOB. Because the plugs don't sit correctly in 2d and the snap is wrong I still say the orgin and snaps are wrong.

YEP -- Absolutely its wrong. Looks like it was originally intended for something else. Quality Control and versatility definitely lacking. These are all simple fixes with a little attention to detail, but never seem to get done. Do you think that Chief is overextended?

I couldn't possibly know that answer, only Chief would know that for sure.

Unfortunate that is hasn't been fixed. Which is why I suggested that Chief is overextended. I digress -- If you think back to X1, the help files then were so generic in nature that they were mostly misleading. Chief obviously assigned more help in that area and there has been a tremendous improvement.

Would rather see more help in fixing these problems areas then new features -- just me.
