    Foundation - Terrain Problems

The attached pic shows a Cross Section Slider View of a 3 story building on a slope with the foundation built by Chief. There are 3 things IMO that are problems:

    1. Build Foundation didn't recognize the portion of the 2nd Floor that is less than 1 story above grade.
    2. Build Foundation didn't recognize the need to step the foundation up to provide a retaining situation where the 1st floor is cut into the terrain.
    3. The Terrain is still showing inside the 1st floor.

I guess these are just conditions that are beyond Chief and we have to manually take care of them.

I really think that Chief should be able to deal with such issues.

    1. Foundations typically are specified as a minimum of (n) below natural/finish grade.
    2. The top of Foundation Walls are specified as being a minimum of (h) above finish grade.
    3. There is typically a minimum underfloor clearance (crawlspace) specified.

Just from that information alone (assuming that the Terrain is present) should be enough to have the program figure out the steps in the top & bottom of Foundations. It should also be possible to have the foundation be generated by more than one floor.

A backfill room def option to fill voids (in 3D) and calculate the volume of needed fill in spaces defined as backfill (crawlspace) would do nicely.

I think that would be appropriate - but only for concrete slab floors.
Right now the only way to handle these things seems to be with terrain regions and/or terrain breaks.
