nvidia is the recommended choice
while ATI cards can do ok, Nvidia just works better for chief
fewer issues etc
as for these specific cards ???

Ok sounds good. Any major differences beween 1GB or 2GB? Or any other factors I should look at? Just wanted to speed up rendering and ray tracing and not get the error of "Not supported graphics card" by stretching every dollar.

renders use the video card
raytraces use cpu
CA recommends 1GB+ for video ram - 8 GB+ cpu ram
for cpu CA recommends as many cores as affordable
go with i7 cpu's

Just stop the ray trace. You have completed over 2800 passes - generally 8-15 passes is as good as it's going to get unless you are trying to do a really dynamite interior. Even then, anything over 50 would be total overkill.

Add some thickness to your terrain. Look in the "Terrain DBX. Then zoom in.,
