Problems Importing a Civil3D Drawing into Chief Architect
Hi Guys,
Last year my office upgraded from stone age AutoCAD R14 (not 2014) to Civil3D 2013. Today a client emailed me saying that when he imports my Civil3D drawing into his Chief Architect program it is all messed up. The linework comes in fine but my topo spots and Civil3D labels are illegible. If a spot has an elevation of 96.23 his CA program will display it as

Very annoying. When I send out Civil3D drawings I first export it to AutoCAD so it should not be a matter of CA not reading C3D objects. I saw that CA cannot read files from a version later than AutoCAD 2012 but I always save my drawings down to 2000 anyway so there are no compatibility issues. My client uses Chief Architect X5 and I use Civil3D/AutoCAD2013.
Has anybody experienced anything like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan K.

I have seen this type of thing when importing acad files. It has to do with the text box getting compressed. If they just grab the offending text and stretch the box more horizontal it will fix itself.

Dan:
which version of Chief ?
verify that version of chief can import your version of Civil 3D
you may need to save as an earlier version ?
you may want to contact CA's tech support as they like to know about these kinds of issues
