    Multiple video cards

I have two video cards; one is new. Only one is hooked up to monitors. But Chief shows the one that is not hooked up in the Video Card Status under the Render tab of the Preferences menu. I don't know if it matters, because I can render. However, I haven't noticed a speed increase in normal rendering, (watercolor, for instance), since I upgraded cards. Anyone know how to get Chief to show the correct card?

I don't think Chief has any control over this.

My old system had an NVidia Control Panel where I could tell it to always be the card in use for various programs, yours might have something similar?

I have that control panel but I don't see any cards listed, unfortunately. Only monitors.

being hooked to a monitor wouldn't matter

chief would see any installed video cards

same as if the monitor was there but turned off

Under 3D Settings, look for Manage 3D Settings, then the Program Settings tab.

Ah, thanks! That did it, at least in the dialog. Haven't noticed a rendering speed change, but it's difficult to tell without a benchmark.

The bulk of the work for Watercolor (as well as the Painting technique) is done almost entirely on the CPU, so it's unlikely you will notice a dramatic speed increase there if you have only upgraded your video card.

Ray tracing should show a big increase?

Ray tracing also uses the CPU and not the video card.
