    Exterior Railings

I have only been using this program for a couple days... Where can I find exterior post and railings? I can't seem to find any in the project browser.

Railings are created using the Walls/Railing Wall Tool. To change what they look like you need to open the dbx for the Railing after it's created and select the items you want there.

I figured out how to change the railings, but I can't seem to get them to line up straight on the front porch...Wherever I move them in plan view...Nothing changes in the 3D view. Does anyone know why that is?

What do you mean by "straight up"? The Railing Wall defines the location of the Porch itself which is a "Room". When you move the railing, the porch changes size. This means that it will look basically the same in 3D.

In order to have a railing that doesn't effect the room:

    1. Create the Porch using an "Invisible Wall".
    2. Create a Railing Wall about 2' away from the porch and open the dbx.
    3. Click on the box that says "No Room Def"
    4. Now move the railing to the location that you want.

The 2 separate railings on the porch are uneven. How do I make the railing touch the ground of the porch?

Please post your plan or at the very least a couple of pics. It's impossible to know what the problem is without something to look at. The plan would be best because then we could tell exactly and probably fix it for you - but it's better if you learn how to fix it yourself.

This is a very complex program to learn - take the time to study.

I have been watching videos about the program. I am trying to edit this house plan that was previously done for a client. Here is a picture of the railing.

It appears that you have 2 separate railing walls. That means that you don't have a "Porch" room which is why the grass shows in front of the door.

In Plan, make the mail railing go completely across the front and right side of the porch. That will actually create a "room" and get rid of the unwanted grass. You can then insert a "doorway" into this railing which will cut out the railing in those areas but the "Room" will remain.

BTW, if the Porch doesn't look exactly like you want you can select the room and change it's parameters.

    A couple of things:

    1. It would be nice if you would edit your information so we know who you are, what version of the software and what hardware you have.

    2. To Post a plan:
    .....Close the file in Chief
.....Find it in Windows Explorer and zip it
.....In these forums you can post the zipped plan

It works, but as soon as I try to change the railing style from the default the grass comes back again.

What default did you change? "No Room Def"?

    That eliminates the "Room".
