    Retrieving lost files

    Hi
My computer restarted for updates while I had Chief Architect plan and layout files open, I was working in plan file and it is now lost. Layout was saved. When I restarted the computer, the plan file is gone, not in recycle bin or anywhere that I can find it. Any ideas please??? Does Chief do an automatic backup and if so where would I find that? Many thanks

If its not there, you can get a free download called "Recuva" that can recover files that have been deleted. Just search that name on the Internet. I always have that program installed, just in case.

I prefer not to rely on CA's archive system

I do frequent "save as" - somtimes as often as every 5 minutes
and certainly after finishing a task I don't want to repeat

I am not sure how many projects you do a year. (I do over 60/year), I was just confirming that the auto archive has worked every time thus precluding the need to do a save as every 5 minutes.

The save as every 5 minutes could be a great back up if you have the time to do this and then to further manage the additional 96 files you would create each day.

I don't save every 5 minutes all day long

just when I need to during heavy edit sessions

    it works for me
