"Break Line" on boxes????
I just upgraded from version 10 and I just discovered the the break line tool can not be used on cad boxes created with the box tool. It can be used only if the box is hand drawn. WHY IS THIS????? I'm not against hand drawing boxes but that seems like a grotesque waste of time. Version 10 had this feature, why has it not been continued?

Steve:
perhaps in X1 or X2 or X3 this feature was moved to another location or another tool ???
CA has made many, many changes/improvements over the various versions
look around it is probably there somewhere
very rarely do they take away function
is it on the edit toolbar ???
look in the manual to see where it might be
if you can't find it contact tech support tomorrow
they are open 6 AM - 5 PM Pacific (15 min. yet today if you hurry)

Thanks Lew. Something is definitely up because I can't do a polyline union with boxes either.

Here is a copy and paste from the help screen on CAX3:
"Note: The Break Line edit button is not available for box-based objects, objects created with the Circle Tools, North Pointers, Sun Angles, Joist Direction Lines, or some architectural objects such as stairs and trusses."

And here is a copy and paste from Chief 10:
The Break Line tool adds a complete or partial break in a line or polyline edge. It will not break items created with the Circle , Oval , Box , Spline , Insulation , or Cross Box tools.
Are you sure you weren't using the break line tool on a Rectangular Polyline and not a Box in V10?Last edited by Glenn Woodward; 06-27-2011 at 04:45 PM.

You break a line on a box, and it ain't a box no more.
Boxes have a behavior in editing totally different from rectangular polylines.

Man! I'm still having trouble adjusting to the new toolbars. I totally was trying to edit a box and not a rectangle. I'm an idiot, never mind.
