X3 malformed library error
I was downloading a bunch of library items into X3 overnight and my computer froze up (it does that on occasions - need to bring it back and have them fix it right). As a result I had to to a hard reset and I am getting an error - See attached when I open Chief or try to restart downloading library objects. I assume the library is corrupted due to the freeze up/reset and I need to do something manually to correct it. Any clues?
Thanks!

Dave,
Did you try to delete the library and download again?

Richard thanks. No I have not, and I don't think I want to try that without some guidance form tech support as I am talking about the basic libraries here, not some additional content.
Given that this is a pretty new install (couple days old) and I have not done much with it yet other than watching videos, I may just uninstall and reinstall. That will probably be the easy fix, but I would hate to get stuck again with a freeze-up during downloads and have to start from scratch every time, hoping to get through it. Yes I know the PC needs to get sorted out, but it seems to be a hard problem for them to track down.
Thanks again.

Anyone got a better clue on fixing this? The reinstall works, but you still need to manually delete library files to clear it all out. I don't want to repeat this. I also need to get the computer problem solved for once and for all...
Thanks,- Dave

A system crash while the library database is being updated can in very rare cases corrupt the library. Most crashes will not corrupt the library, it's a timing thing, the system has to crash at the exact right moment to cause the failure.
The support team will likely ask you to rename the Database Libraries folder with chief closed and relaunch. That restores the original library.
From there you have two courses.
1) restore the database from your backup.
or
2) re-download.
Option 1 is the recommended solution. If you don't have a backup use option 2 and then make a backup up periodically as you download new libraries.
You definitly should get the system crash taken care of.Dan Park,

Thanks Dan. I broke down and took the system back in today. They believe it is a hardware issue, and based on what I see, I agree. Hopefully that fixes it and the problem is gone for good, but it will probably take close to 2 weeks until I have it back.
