survey drawing sent in autocad
I receive site plans directly from the land surveyor in autocad format.
Can I somehow sent it to chief 6 and use his autocad file(the drawing) as my lot perimiter. It has the exact lot layout and many existing conditions including neighbouring buildings etc.
regards,
Mike

Hello Mike,
Just ask the surveyer to give you the file as a DXF, or as an alternative get an other person that uses the same release Acad as the drawing has been saved in, to convered it to a DXF file. Then just import the DXF in Chief, best place is a CAD Detail sheet.
All the best, Jan

One other thing you might consider: TurboCad 2d is free(www.turbocad.com). It reads .DWG and will save in .DXF. I will say this, I had problems downloading it because the site was so busy and problems with the unlock code, but other than that it works.

AutoCad Lite ('98 or 2000) is an inexpensive way to talk to both AutoCad & Chief , I think I paid $200 for '98 just before the 2000 version was released. My engineer uses it to DXF between Acad14 & Chief 97.
