dotted line

Anyone know what the dotted line in this jpeg is all about? It appears when I try to add a wall to a drawing I did of an existing building and disappears when I delete the interior wall. Most of the time anyway. I'd like to keep this from happening.

It's drawn with version X2.

in prior versions this might be the "walls, beams" layer

I forget what the layer was changed to in X2

might be "ceiling break lines" ???

these define the headroom where the roof is lower than the set ceiling height

Then again, those lines might be something else ???

It doesn't seem to be the case Lew. This is only a one story house and the plate heights are all the same. I can't select the line and the only way I've been able to get rid of them is by drawing the wall somewhere nearby where the line doesn't pop up and dimensioning it over to the proper location. Very strange. Thanks for having a look at it though.

I tried uploading a regular plan file but it didn't seem to take. Maybe I'm exceeding file size.

Hmmm, do you have to zip it first? If so, do I need to download something like winzip? I recall using that to unzip a file before, years ago.

Think Lew is right, check the ceiling height in that room and do a doll house view..
Might rafters are coming down right there.

close the plan in chief

using windows explorer right click on the plan file and select "send to"
and then select "compressed file" which zips the file.

This usually is a ceiling break line. An easy way to determine if that is it is to turn off the "Ceiling Break Lines" layer in display options. Doing a dollhouse view, as suggested, will also show where wall heights may be different, creating this situation.

If the line looks wrong in plan, that is a good indication there is some thing wrong with the model..
