Dimension display

For some reason whenever I want to display a dimension of, say a room width then lots of other irrelevant dimensions are displayed on the plan at the same time. I have tried altering the settings in the display options to just display only the dimension I want but without success. How do I do this?

You may want to create another layer or two for different types of dimensioning, for example room size, interior dimensions, dimension-label....etc

- There is a toggle that will turn off temporary dimensions if they are in the way however it will turn off the useful one as well if not already present. - If the dimensions you are talking about disappear after releasing an object they are "temporary dimensions"...
