Layers
How do I get a layer I added, to one layer set myself onto another layer set. I can't even add it manually as it knows there is already one by the same name and tells me I can not add a duplicate.
Thanks for your help again,

Once you create a layer, it should be in all layersets in that plan. It won't be in all new plans unless you add it to your profile plan.

It is not there! I am so frustrated. In my default layer set, it typed in "SECTIONS CALL OUTS" and now when I want to bring up that layer in the "framing set", it is nowhere to be found so I can not turn it on there.

When you say you "typed in", what are your steps exactly? Where are you typing it?
What you should be doing, is when you have your "Layer Display Options" Dialog Box open, go to the bottom, click the second button over from the right, which is "new". A window will open asking you to name the new layer. Name it, clikck OK. It will now be available for all layersets.Allen Brown

I copied a layer with all it's attributes and then changed the name.

Did you use the "Copy Set" button at the top, or the "Copy" button at the bottom?

Copy at the bottom because I did not want to copy the whole set but just the new layer I wanted to create.

In order to make a new layer you've added apply to all layer sets you have to check the box next to Apply to All Layer Sets at the top of the dialog.

Thank you, I just learned that it does not work with "copy", but it does work with "add". Thanks again!

Having "Modify All Layersets" checked will not prevent a new layer from appearing on all layersets.
If you change a layers qualities and have that checked, it will change the qualities in all layersets. If you want a particular layer in one lyerset to be red, but black in all other layers, leave that box un-cheked.
JB, once you copy that layer, and rename it, do you see it listed in that layerset?Allen Brown

JB, copying a layer works for me. It just puts a 2 after the name, places it right under the old layer, and is available on all sets???

You are right Allen, it is Modify all Layer Sets that I was referring too and not Apply to all Layer Sets. I don't have access to Chief Architect as I'm not near my own computer. So am I wrong in saying that adding a new layer or copying a new layer to one layer set will add that same layer to all layer sets without checking that box?
