    Stud Lengths

    G'day again all,

I've tried to find (defaults framing etc) how to adjust my wall heights.
In this part of the world, Kootenays, B.C. stud lengths are 92 1/4 or 104 1/4.
CA, after detracting plate dimensions = 92 5/8. Is this a build and drag solution? I've found numerous defaults for all kinds of dimensions but not length of studs.

So far I'm better at building than drawing but am very impressed by the program and CA community, thanks,

    Lee Boland.

PS Yes I do research before I ask!! F1, Demo disks etc.

    Frank,

Thanks for the tip. That did the trick. I guess I need to think outside the box a little more.

Use your stud length, add the top and botton plate dimensions and use the total to set B, your ceiling height, in the room specification dialog box.

Lee..i do not know where you are getting the stud length from...but every lumber mill in bc and alberta and canada is 92 5/8(add 4.5" for 3 plates and you get 97.125"-.5" for drywall ceiling and a 96" sheet of drywall and that leaves you .5" above subfloor) or 104 5/8(9' ceiling...same math applies)..maybe the kootneys are in a different place?

drywall thickness of 5/8" yields gap of 1/2", right?

Right Jay. But now with 1/2" ceiling drywall, we're likely to see stud lengths change again.

    David,

I've been building house here in the Kootneys for five years now. Believe it or not when I order a lift of 2x6 P.E.T studs they come in at 104 1/4 or 92 1/4.
I'e worked with other carpenters from other areas that have also seen studs in the 5/8 variety. Either way my Q was how to change the dimensions in my drawings, that's already been answered.

    Thanks anyway.
