    Why do my brackets float?

I added triangular brackets to the rakes of a gable end roof. Every time I open a camera view of that particular elevation, I find that the brackets are somewhere above or to the side of where I originally placed them. Any of you gurus know why these objects won't stay fixed?

    Jerry:

I think it has to do with origin's, so editing the symbol and setting the origins may work.

There are prior threads about this.

First of all, uncheck "Follow Terrain". Once you CTRL drag them into place (you may have to use plan and elevation views) they should stay put until you try and move them again, in which case they tend to snap somewhere else, in which case CTRL drag again.

They are all kind of fun to work with throughout the design. Wish there was a button to lock them individually in 3D space. Anyone suggest this already? I know some have been fuming about corner boards in this regard too.

I was going to ask if they were wood brackets. If you don't want them to float, fabricate them out of steel. They'll sink like a stone!

I share your pain with this behavior, and can only recommend that you uncheck "follow terrain" for corbels and many other objects that misbehave this way.

    Have fun!

Jerry, Can you try after fix the location of the brackets to put them in different layer and lock the layer.

VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood...?
    BEDEMIR: Good!
    CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether it is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of it!
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
    VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
    VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw it into the pond!
    CROWD: The pond!

BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
    VILLAGER #1: Bread!
    VILLAGER #2: Apples!
    VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
