adjusting walls in elevation view

I'm having a problem adjusting walls in elevation view. Version 10 didn't give me any trouble when selecting walls, breaking their edges and drawing down the siding to cover open areas. Also, I can't seem to break and step foundation walls in x1. I mean I click on walls, create handles but then walls move in seemingly arbitrary and unhelpful ways. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

Tom,

They have it set up by default that you will select the room first in X-1. Tab to get the wall.

...or turn it off in preferences.
