Angled Cross Hairs
Can I set my cross hairs to a 45d angle or even a custom angle? This has probably already been addressed but I'm new to Chief Talk.

This would be a nice feature but I think the answer is no. Paging ART.

Not that I know of.
However, you can set your lines and movements to adhere to 45 degrees or other odd angles. You don't get the visual of the crosshairs, but you get the behavior.

E,
I think one of the reasons we don't have the crosshairs is that Chief allows multiple "allowed angles". I believe most othercad programs let's you change to a different angle, but you're still limited to that angle and 90 degrees from it. That's how acad 2004 works.
With multiple allowed angles, which ones should have the crosshairs?
I've thought from time to time that I'd like the visual reference of rotating my crosshairs to 45 degrees, or to match the roof pitch of the section I'm working on. What are your thoughts? How would you like to see something like that implemented?Wendy Lee Welton

Angled Cross Hairs
Wendy,
"Visual Reference" That's all I want with the crosshairs being at an angle. And yes I saw it available on ACAD also. I would hope that CA may include this in their next upgrade. All we would have to do is tell them that they are probably not smart enough to make it work ...........and they would!

Along with viable angled cross hairs how about angled shift select following the same angle? For deleting purposes if nothing else.

Carl:
Please post a thread in the suggestions section with a link to this thread.
This sounds useful, a toggle would be nice.

The short answer is no. The ability to rotate the cross hair to an angle is pretty easy, but I think you need more than that. I would expect that rotating the cross hair to match the input grid would be what would be expected. Currently we don't have support for rotating the input grid. While this is requested from time to time it hasn't floated to the top of our priorities.

Doug,
Thanks for that.
How hard would it be to have tool that would add an Allowed Angle by clicking on an object - like the line for a roof, to include the angle associated with the roof pitch?
As I'm really and truly transitioning to Chief for all my cad, I'm stumbling across these little things that I have to stop for, that I could do quickly in acrap.
Carl & E,
I'll leave the suggesting to you guys!
E,
I knew your name once, but am drawing a blank. I'm sure your mom didn't really name you after an illegal "date" drug... What's your name again?Wendy Lee Welton

Could custom pointers work?
