ridge beam
how do you manually put a ridge beam in to your spec...I keep putting it in and then when i try to size it it's showing up as a cad line

Hi Emily
Depends how you are doing this..
I think doing the model correct and then taking an elevation is the best way..
If you build roof framing and set the ridge to what
you want it will come out right..
Framing=roof beam in plan view works,,
A cad box works if your just doing a cad drawing..
Little more detail of what you are doing will help...........

i am doing a garage conversion where the new garage roof line meets the main house existing. Half of the new ridge in garage will sit on 2 posts...th rest will just overframe existing...so I need to show a 5 1/8"x12" ridge for half the roof........

I would do the model correct and build the roof framing.
The ridge can then be resized..
Might be easier to make it big first and resize the smaller part..
Then use the extend(fence) tool to make the rafters hit it..

See if this is it..
I straightened out your roofs by using the join roof tool.
The ridge was coming out crooked before...........

That is an X1 plan.
Sorry,thought you had X1 because of your join date.
She said after straightening the roof,the ridge came out right...........
