    section details

I'm new to chief architect and I'm just trying to figure out what all it will do on its own. Sometimes doing the details on the sections can be time consuming and I'm just wondering if chief will do anything other than the "auto detail" that's available. Will it include any general text or instructions or is that going to have to be done by hand still? Just trying to cut time any way possible if anyone has suggestions.

Sure Chief has a few cad details that have text and descriptions and what not that can be changed as needed.

If it did everything, I wouldn't be needed anymore...

Once you make a detail, save it in your library to reuse on similar projects. If you are coming to us from say AutoCAD or similar, the details you have can be imported into Chief for use (.dxf, .dwg). You will have to put some time in up front, but it will pay off down the road. Be patient....

All of my cad details are custom made or edited from other details. If you don't save them to the library, you're just wasting time if you have to redraw it for every plan. Because we use more than one engineer, I have some details that are basically the same but vary slightly in text or the way some things are positioned depending on what that engineer wants to show or specify. BTW, I make no details directly from Chief's views but for the exception of some coffered or tray ceilings that we need to show.

George, look in the library under cad blocks and then under residential details, etc.. Chief also has a "Cad Toolkit" that has many other details. The toolkit is an aditional cost though.

If you have X1 they are in the library under cad blocks and the bonus cad details, in ten I think you have to download the bonus cad details from the Chief site.
Anything before 10 I do not know about.
Are you neede dsome specific details? If so you can post a request here and some nice Chiefer will probably give you something close.
    What version are you using?
    Where are you from?
    How many kids?
