2x6 Walls will not display
I don't seem to be able to display 2x6 framing. I'm working on a plan where the interior walls are 2x4 and the exterior are 2x6 some with siding and some with brick. I've built my framing for the floors and roof trusses, but the exterior wall framing will not display. In plan view the 2x4 studs are shown but no 2x6 walls.
When looking at the over all plan with "full overview or full framing view" I get the interior walls but no exterior walls.
I've rebuilt walls floors and ceiling a number of times, made sure all layers are turned on. Just can't find any exterior wall framing.
Hopefully some one has a suggestion.
Thanks
Bill

Thanks Louis, I already checked this option.
I'm about ready to to redraw the plan after I get my elevations completed. I've been thru all the options and just can't find an answer for it. This is the first time I've had any problems other than crashes.
I tried a small plan with mixed walls 2x4 & 2x6 to make sure it wasn't any main settings and everything worked.
Thanks again

Is it turned off on your "System" tab in the "Layers" dialogue? What "Layers" set is selected currently (It may be the wrong one)?

BLayman,
Shot in the dark here.
Have you got the framing set as the main layer in your
wall dbx. I've had the same problem as you and finally
figured out this was my problem. This, using V7. I emailed
tech support because I thought this was a bug but they
never got back.Randall Howlett

Here's another shot in the dark.
Have you rebuilt the Framing (not floors, walls and ceilings). Click the framing, then double click the floor joists, under the wall tab click to build the walls and click OK.Jim Pfister

Are you sure you have a Framing material assigned to your 2x6 walls?
framing won't build unless you assign one of the framing materials.Glenn

Thanks to everyone who sent assistance, for awhile I thought I may have to redraw the entire plan.
A special thanks to Randell Howlett who found my trouble.
In the Layer Spec dbx I had set the exterior wall sheathing as my main layer. This gives me the correct dimensions for all exterior walls that matches the foundation. After changing the main layer to the stud face all exterior framing properly displayed.
Before changing the main layer the only framing display I could get was the interior wall framing, floor framing and roof trusses. Looked real stange.
I don't know how ART feels, but to me this is a bug or at least a problem that needs correcting. No matter which layer is marked as the main layer, all framing should still display.
Thanks again to everyone for all there help.

Sorry Bill,
But I have to disagree with your premise this is a "bug" or should be changed. Any kind of change of the sort you mention, reduces the functionality and flexibility of the program.
With more experience using the program, I am sure you will come to agree.
Let's say for example you were doing a remodel addition and wanted to only show the new framing, but Chief by default showed all the framing of a building, not what YOU wanted to see in the perspectives, overviews, etc.
Chief has gone through a lot of development over the years and the features and the way they operate do so for a reason.Bill Shideler
