OpenBIM is based upon exchange of data from app to app, but general BIM is more a general description than "standard" (per se). So you know, exporting from Chief in 3d does work very well - and the objects retain med range data. If I export a model into 3DS I dont have to go re-associate every line.
I'd call CA a BIM. I believe it is 5D in that you can edit in several views, including basic informational data, and have that edit reflect across the spectrum of the model (ie windows, doors, moldings etc).
Using a well-known BIM like Vectorworks, I can tell you CA has more interconnectivity in my opinion.X5
