    Wall Length Again

I need to again set the "length" of a wall.

This should not be but a pull from the end of a wall and you have it or

    1) to dim to the end of a wall, click on the wall,
    2) click on the dim and wala you have your length

I fight with every time I need to set the proper framing opening size for an over head door, walls that set out a bit beyond a corner for an entertainment center, in this case trying to get a hall entry symmetrical.

I have tried to snap to a cad line, extend to another invisible wall, placing a temp wall, bringing the end to it, YEA, NO, as soon as you get rid of the temp walls my end goes wherever it wants to.

ART, this needs to be made an easier task

    I am using 9.54 full

Any simple solutions are GREATLY APREACIEATED.

    David,

Try toggling on Unrestricted Positioning and then drag the end of the wall.
The Positioning Unit setting will inhibit the movement of the wall end as you drag it.

    Thanks Glen,

I have tried that along with "Auto Snap" and nether have worked,

If I try to move my wall back to close to another wall, my wall just blows away.

There just seems to be no way to adjust the length of a free standing wall.

On this one house I have 6 places where I need this done, along side showers, ent centers, end of 2 dif halls, along the side of a boot bench.

    David,

I would be happy to take a look at your settings and see if I can get walls to place where you want. Just make some notes where you want the short walls and how long you want them. Send the plan to : Louis

    David,

Another thing to try is a very thin wall (1mm, 1/16" or whatever). Make it invisible and draw it at 90° to the end of the wall you want to extend.
You can then locate the very thin wall with dimensions and it will drag the end of the main wall with it.

Go to plan defaults (double click arrow) and change "Unconnected Wall Min. Length" to 4. Sometimes changing "Wall Snap Distance" to 1 also helps. Drag the wall to the desired length. (The invisible wall will either need to be deleted, or moved to where the center is at your target point.) Make sure you change the numbers back to the original numbers when you are done or you will get some frustrating behaviors.

Or you can take the invisible wall that is in your picture, drag it to the right until it connects to the wall, then get a dimension to it, select the wall, then the dimension and input your desired length.

Another option still (not personally recommended though), would be to drag the wall across the hall, and put a doorway in.

    Louis, Glenn, Ben Thank You,

    I have tried each and

Go to plan defaults (double click arrow) and change "Unconnected Wall Min. Length" to 4. Sometimes changing "Wall Snap Distance" to 1 also helps. Drag the wall to the desired length.
This works the quikest and gives me MUCH FINE control,

Another thing to try is a very thin wall (1mm, 1/16" or whatever). Make it invisible and draw it at 90° to the end of the wall you want to extend.
This works and I can dim my openings.

THANK YOU all for your help
