How to Create a New Wall Type so it is availabe in new plans
When I create a new wall type in one plan.. and then start a new plan from scratch.. it does not have the new wall types I created.
Is there a way to save the wall types universally so they are available for all future plans?Samantha

1. Create the wall type in your base template plan and save.
OR
2. Upgrade to X6 -- and click on the wall and use the "save to library" tool in your edit bar. The wall will then be listed in the wall dropdown define tab.Gerry

Or, save the new wall in your default plan file...no upgrade required.

ok thanks guys.. i just thought that something like creating a new wall type would be carried over to new plans automatically. It seems that it would be 'part' of the program and not just the individual plan.

Go on YouTube and watch all of D Scott Hall's SAM videos, most of which precede your X5.
Scott advocates never using a "new" file from template, but instead always building off the most current plan.
Works for Scott, and for many others. SAM is the acronym for "save-as method."Gene Davis

I would recommend just adding it to your profile plan. I know in X6 you can add it to the library but I probably won't do that.

I actually really like adding walls to the library. It allows me to select the wall type I want instead of drawing a default Exterior or Interior Wall and then having to edit them later.

Hey Joe,
The good thing about adding walls to the library is that you can then assign each wall to a toolbar button.
So that you can have a "walls" toolbar and just select whatever type wall you want from the toolbar - no going into the library.Glenn
