    varying lap siding reveal

I am trying to create a siding profile that will show lap siding with a reveal of 2 at 4" and the 1 at 7". ( repeating of course )
I searched previous posts and could not find any info or links to such a thing.

I would like to have it show as a pattern and a texture as well.

    thanks!

I believe you will have to paint a texture file with that pattern. So that looks to be about 8"/4"/4", therefore you paint it and set the siding to be 16" tall.

The question is where does the pattern come from. I assume it can be made but I don't know how to make it. That takes care of vector view, now where does the texture, (not the pattern) come from. Do you take a picture and convert to material.

Hey, 3d diva, where are you?

For something that unusual and specific, it will be tough to find a suitable image short of going and taking a picture of that house yourself. But, if you are handy at all in Photoshop, you could take one of the existing lap siding images and copy/paste appropriately and probably come up with something decent.

For the pattern, have you searched all of Chief's custom patterns? There are quite a few siding ones and you can adjust the scale of them. Otherwise, search the web for other pattern files, or there are some pattern writing softwares available as well.

spent all afternoon looking online for one to download.
creating one from scratch by writing it is probably over my head.

does anyone know of an online service that is reputable and I could contract to create one?

See the images in order. I found the texture files. I painted some of the lines out and cropped the image. Resized and reapplied the texture file.

P.S. I have no idea how to make a pattern file. I never show vector views to clients.

The texture that Alan created is perfect.
    thank you!
I am going to play with it in some render views.

now if I can just get a pattern file for the line drawings to match?

I was curious and had a few minutes, so I think I have this pattern file right. Very tedious, though, to try and match it up correctly with the texture image as far as scale and offset.

    YOU GUYS FLAT OUT ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly what I needed.
if there was a corner bar close by I would be picking up the tab tonight.

I can fudge the scaling around a bit and make it all come together in both render and vector views.

    thanks again so much!
hope I can repay the help someday!

@ William. I did a house on Mercer Island. Does David still own it? The best client ever.
