Heads up on naming files

I am sure most of you guys know this but, be careful naming files on your mac if you want to share with pc. I recently named a file CLIENT/TEST on the mac. All files are in dropbox. Went to look for file on pc and it was not there. The fact that I used a "/" made the file unreadable on the pc.

If I remember my coding days here are some of the naming restrictions for Windows
Characters not allowed in the name < > : \ / | ? *
No individual file can have a length of more than 255 characters
There are also some reserved words but I can't recall them at this time and they are not something normally used anyway I think , (e.g. PRN, COM, LPT, NUL and others, plus numbers on the end of COM and LPT)

I use "_" between name nodes

developed this habit back in 1978 with IBM mainframes and works well on PC's also

Mac gives a lot more liberty with regard to naming files for whatever reason. I have held off on crossing those lines though because of what you went through. I use a PC laptop when meeting with clients.
