    Multiple monitors in x6

just curious to know how the new feature allowing multiple monitor use is going in X6.

probably the one upgrade I am looking forward to the most

I don't know how I ever managed without it.

The big problem is that there's no way Scott or CA can do videos that we can watch on multiple screens. Pity!

multiples are sweet- no problems with either standard monitors or USB ones.
Scott will figure something out- he always does.

    Multiple monitors in X6

At the office I typically use a Qosmio laptop connected to a Toshiba docking station. I have a large NEC flat screen monitor, full size keyboard and all my plotters/printers/network connected to the docking station.
So when I get to the office all I do is plug in via a USB cable and the power supply for my laptop. I take my laptop home every night and with this setup I don’t have to constantly try to keep my laptop synced with a desktop computer (Very time consuming).

I am using X6 which now supports multiple monitors so I deiced today to add a second NEC flat screen setup to extend monitor option. Wow it is awesome. I located the project browser and the library browser on the second flat screen which leaves me with a lot of drawing space on my main display.

I’m home now and when I started up Chief on my laptop no Library and Project browser to be found, Guess they are on my second monitor at the office . I am not sure if there is another trick I haven’t tried to get them to show up on my laptop screen. I will try dragging them back to the main screen tomorrow at the office and see if that will do the trick. The bottom line is support for multiple monitors is a great option to have.

Go into preferences and use the "reset side windows" tool.

I use dual 23" monitors. It's excellent for the layout on one and plan on the other.

Thanks Kilgore! Oh, and dual monitors are much better in X6.

Chief won't know about the changes in monitors unless you close and reopen it. I assume that the laptop knows that the monitors are not there when they are detached. If so then Chief should force windows back on screen. If the laptop thinks the monitors are still there then you are going to have a lot of grief.

I've found it common with many programs to have floating toolbars and odd dbxs end up on screens that are not there. I've made it a habit to send everything to the primary before closing it. Some progress can leave somethings impossible to retrieve.
Conversely many programs will open dbxs on the primary despite having the main window on a secondary or tertiary.

I do love having the different full windows on different monitors, but also miss being able to minimize within one window that we can't seem to do anymore.
