Saving files without the Cheif Architect Premier XX Prefix?

Is there some default setting to remove this prefix when saving new files? It gets annoying to highlight it out and remove it particularly when i'm printing as PDF.

    Thanks All

Agreed! I have my own file naming convention and don't need CA to help!

Seriously? --There is no answer to this?

I thought I was being lazy deleting everything left of the X every time. I visited this post hoping to at last find the answer.

I've searched for an answer to this but came up empty. I figured I just didn't know no betta' but might actually be that it can't be changed. If so, that is totally goofy!!

Is this X5 or X6. I thought I had removed the Chief Architect Premier when printing to PDF in X6. In my version I just show the plan and the view it came from:

    Untitled 1-Floor Plan.pdf

    or

    Untitled 1-Layout.pdf

Insert your saved plan name for Untitled 1.

my post was related to X5, Yes, it is fixed. I just made the X6 jump last night. That's awesome, I waited exactly long enough to complain about it!!

I would like the automatically generated word 'layout' or 'floor plan' removed from the title of the PDF. I title my PDFs with the date and client name only. They do not know what a layout is so it's irrrelavent to them. This creates an extra step to remove the extraneous words.

I looked at this request when it was filed and I had it deferred to see other users will report this as a problem. I only have the one request at this point.

My reasoning for having the -Layout, -Floor Plan, -Materials, -Time Log, -Elevation..., -Image, and a variety of other view titles tacked on the name, was to make it easy to identify printouts based on the view and type of printout. This information is designed to allow you as a user to be able to quickly print out different views and be able to easily identify them without having to add more information to the name. If you are the type of user that will print out images of overviews, etc. having the different overview types automatically labeled might be faster than having to add text to each printout so you can differentiate between them.

I would be interested in seeing what others think.

Should a PDF file always be named exactly the same as the plan regardless of what the view type is?

    or

Does the current implementation provide a better overall experience?

    Hi Dan,

I see your point about view titles which is a time saver, although I'd be more inclined to save views as .jpgs not as individual PDFs. The majority of my PDFs are plan sets requiring title block information, therefore printing through layout.

Maybe we need a prefence setting.

    Thanks for the reply,

I second that motion for preferences. Like a label where we could use macros. I too like your method Dan, for jpgs. Its the pdfs for layouts where I had to delete "Chief Architect Premier" everytime that bothered me. I hadn't noticed this was fixed. Thanks.
