Text with a white fill has solid black fill in layout!?

Have not sen that before, though when I want text to have a background I select the "Use background Color" radio button.

Thanks Kevin, I usually use the background color setting, as well...I always do on new text I type in. These text items were dropped in from a library and didn't have that feature selected when I saved them to the library.
It displayed as it should in public beta, but in the new "official release" is where I'm having the issue.
