Hole in terrain under gas fireplace step out

How does one deal with the hole in the terrain under a gas fireplace step out? I thought by calling the step out a porch or deck this would not happen, but that wasn't the case. I'm sure there is an easy solution for this. Thanks in advance for your advice.

You could always place a slab there - material = "Grass".

If I'm not mistaken, the terrain follows the shape of the floor it's on. So build your terrain on the foundation level and it should ignore the step out. I remember having the same issue a while back.

Here's one I did recently with the terrain on level 0 and never had a problem. Joe's solution works, but only if your terrain is flat.

Lewis...Your solution of building the terrain on level 0 does work, but I had already built mine on level 1. I ended up moving my terrain to level 0, but it involved a lot of fudging on my part due to what all was going on with the terrain and it's "accessories". I then had to make a new reference set so I could get driveways, sidewalks and terrain items to show on my first floor plan. No real big deal. Before doing that I was playing around and came up with a so-so work around. I found by calling the back wall on the stepout a railing wall the terrain hole went away. In render everything looks fine, but in plan view there are certain "items" that show up. (attachments) Once again---appreciate all the advice sent my way. Have a great day

    Larry,

You can uncheck 'Hide Terrain" in the Terrain dbx and then use the Terrain Hole to draw the terrain hole as you want.

In the Terrain Specification dbx remove the check from the "Hide Terrain Intersected by Building" box in the Clipping section at the bottom of the General Tab.

Glenn & Rich.... I believe this is the best solution even though joe's & Levis will work. Thanks to all for your advice and have a great day.
