panel molding

I am trying to place a panel molding piece into a custom cabinet door design. When I think through it, I am wondering if its better to make 2 modeling profiles cut at the insert line rather than trying to futz with lining it all up. Can I ask how you guys work with panel moldings??

How I work with doors like this is to find an already-made cabinet door style that is pretty darn close. Some time expenditures are really not worth it.

Yep, I've done that with every kitchen so far in CA, but this kitchen design is for a client who is paying me to make it perfect. The door they want is actually from Design-Craft, but I can't find anything close enough to justify skipping customization. That said I have not searched ALL the doors CA has to download.

1. I cut a cross section of the custom door 2. make the p-line and add the molding to it around panel 3. then while looking at the cross section I adjust the profile to where I want it. I keep a couple of plain raised panel and flat panel doors in a plan by themselves. Then when I want to add a custom profile, all I have to do is open the plan, add the profile adjust it's position and send it to the library. Usually only takes a couple of minutes. It's not much of a deal. Is this what you're asking or am I misunstanding something.
