Just to throw another use at you guys - it's great for flush baseboards. Just set the material to the same thickness as the drywall and cut the wall material. This is something that I like to do with a small reveal between the Baseboard and the bottom of the Drywall. Two recessed "Custom Backsplashes" makes a nice 3D detail.

No one knows everything about every tool, that's why we are here , to learn about what's possible. It's not a workaround, you just have to learn what it can do.

Wow, I'm sure there are more things we can do with it, this is what this forum is all about, I don't know why all 25 thousand members aren't taking advantage of this. Their loss.

how is the non-CA-pro supposed to know this.
Even a pro could miss that (Chuckle Smiley). Terminology is important. A tutorial is a needle in a haystack if you don't know to look for it. IMHO poor use of terminology is not new to CA.

Precisely why it is potentially a workaround

If there is a need for these items then a dedicated tool or setting should be created
    for them.

all these "secrets" lead to frustration and annoyance with the software

    Here is another use.
Did you ever want to have panels above and/or below a window in a multi-layered wall?

That is true, now the question is, what would you call the tool?

    Glenn,

I don't think Lew's joking - but I do think he's being a bit ridiculous. We will never get anything worthwhile if we are constantly asking for a separate tool for every little possible "USE" definition. Maybe it would be better if the tools were titled in a more generic way, but we shouldn't need a bunch of separate tools that essentially do the same thing.

    Now here's a problem:

The materials do not miter at outside corners - see pic. IMO this is a functional "Bug". I wouldn't want the final X6 release to be delayed just to fix this but maybe CA can tweak it for the first X6 patch.

Some thing I notice was that it won't cross from one wall to the next like say you have a gable wall with your normal below it won't cross the two of them , at first I thought it was a bug and then I guessed it was a limitation

Well wake me up Glenn - I missed this one completely... too busy drawing and fitting stupid polyline solids together. If this is a work around bring em on. I don't care what it's called but it's just made my life way simpler. Especially the fact that I can save it as a library object and it retains all of it properties.
