Rafters with Rafter Tails For pavillion

I have searched all over the content for rafters that have rafter tails like you would use for an outdoor pavaillion. I remember seeing them somewhere in the past, but now when I need them, I can not find them. Does anyone know where they are in the library.
I have seen the tails by them selves but I was hoping to find rafters that already have tails.

Thanks for all of your help in the past, you guys have really helped me with Chief
    Thanks

    Rafter tails

Thanks for the feedback, you are correct. After finding out where to add the rafter tail the difficult task was creating a rafter with a tail on a pavillion that has no roof. Since I went to the trouble here is what I had to do
    1) Create a roof plane on my pavillion. You need to have a roof plane before you can draw a rafter. I used hidden walls to create this pavillion and bulit the walls stick by stick.
    2) I had to create a flat roof (Zero degree pitch). I tried drawing a rafter with an 8 / 12 pitch but you can not change the angle of the rafter when it is drawn at a 8 /12 pitch.
    3) Once I drew the rafter with the flat roof I added a rafter tail and moved it away from my roof plane.
    4) Then I deleted the roof plan (don't need it any more)
    5) I was only able to add a rafter tail to one end of the rafter, so I had to make a copy of the first rafter and then place them end to end to get one rafter across the whole roof.
Usng a little creativity I was able to get what I needed.
Thanks again for the help and let me know if you see a shorter way to do this

Had I known exactly what you wanted to do I would not have offered what I did offer.

When I do Arbors and atrium's I do them with poly-line solids, make the first one and then copy.
Nothing at all wrong with what you did do, I am not saying that. I am saying I prefer the older method myself.
    Both work.

I do the same as David and create it manually so you have total contol. I did however create a library so I don't have to keep making them. If you would like the library that I have, email me. I how a sample of show I use them as well.

    Rafters with Rafter Tails

Interesting Comments. And yes you can email me (fvbs2010@live.com) the Rafters you have in your library. I am always looking for options and second opinions.

When I was creating the pergolla I wanted to use the framing tools within Chief as much as possible so if I wanted to I could get a list of materials used in the plan. So you first suggestion was exactly what I was looking for. Once I created one rafter the hard work is done, I copied it like you said.

If I use polylines instead of rafters will Chief know to add these to the material list. I am assuming Chief won't know what materials they really are if I just use a polyline and I don't define the material as framing members. Am I wrong about this?

See my attached file to see how it came out. The only problem I have with the attached file is there is too much blue in the Raytrace. I am going to post a string to see if I can get some help with the color scheme Raytrace is using.
    Comments are much appreciated
    Thanks

I cannot find a way to make solids come into the framing materials list. Maybe a wizard will step up here and show us how.

Just did a test. Made a polyline solid beam, made its material "fir framing," put it on the roof framing layer. It shows up in a 3D-Framing view.

Ran the materials list, and it is not there.

geocoy, I think it was you that sent me an email saying that the library wasn't too helpful because when you strected the symbols, the ends lost the shape. I see that I didn't change the stretch zones in the library I sent. It's just a matter of setting stretch zones. They do work fine with the proper settings. The image posted here shows those symbols that have been stretched 3 times the size of the initial size when placed. BTW, I stretch them in elevations.

    Creating custom rafter tails

I created these custom rafter tails and they look great in 3D and in the elevations, BUT, for some reason they do not appear correctly when you look at them in a plan view (top down). They appear to be lying on their side. I tried playing with the display axis and could not figure out how to get them to appear correctly. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong.

    Tommy,

I love that grey mottled texture on the walls.
    Is it a Chief texture?
If not, is there any chance of getting a copy?
