running bond brick hatch required

Can anyone tell me how to produce this hatch for vector view?
The size is actually 36"hx12"h, it is a stonetile cladding. I have offset tile by 12" each row.

Google "Acme brick masonry designer" and download the program for free, then install to your PC - takes seconds. It has many brick/block textures/colours and can reproduce the offset running bond you want. You then just need to get a sample into Chief, but I haven't done that yet, so let me know how you get on.

thanks for the suggestion Alan, this program will produce a good texture image but not a line drawing for a hatch pattern.
Also the third running bond alternates every other course not adjusting every course by a third as you move to next row.

Try Browsing Chief's Pattern Files. There are all sorts of Cross-Hatch Patterns and you can even use ".pat" files from AutoCAD, etc. The other option is learning to create a ".pat" file with the proper definition yourself. It's just a text file with numerical values.

I haven't done a hatch pattern for a long time. There are tutorials on the web and you can also look at the "Brick" pattern file (open with wordpad) to see how a hatch is coded. You can even copy and modify one of the patterns within that file. Some of the numerical values indicate direction and some indicate distances and I think there's also a draw/move value.

From what I understand, the key is getting the 12" offset correct?
Attached are the two panels in X6 that let you control the pattern of the material.

I don't think you have it right. David has a pattern that gets offset 1/3 of the brick width each row (3 distinct rows) which is then repeated. That means the Hatch Pattern has to define 3 rows vs just 2 rows for a standard running bond that is offset 1/2 of the brick width.

I believe that Chief's dbx's (which you show) simply allows the Texture to be offset from the horizontal and/or vertical starting position (origin). I recall making the suggestion during the past year or two for a similar offset capability for the XHatch Pattern but I didn't see it mentioned in the X6 What's New.

I tried attaching the file in this forum but it said invalid file. works fine on my X5.

Dang Bill, some of you guys are just Bad Arse! Do you use Vectorworks much? I would imagine you would need it for your larger commercial projects. I demoed it a long time ago and sort of liked the crisp "clicking" noise feedback of the mouse when selecting etc (I think they were sued by another Mac based CAD program for stealing that technology.-BB

Works great in X6, it should not be this hard to produce a pattern.
