X6 Layout Template Niggle
LOVE the new feature. I took it for a test spin on a pretty simple Layout and it simplified a lot of organizational tasks. The developers should really be congratulated...but...it would really be nice if the Layout Template pages were not numbered as 'Pages' but instead numbered as templates or some other numbering convention. The reason is I use a very simple sheet numbering system 1, 2, 3, etc. without prefixes such as A-2, A-3 etc.
The way the Layout templates work now if I have 3 templates then my page 1 shows as page 3 in the template list and I have to read the label to see the actual page number.
If the Template pages were numbered Template 1, or Temp. 2, etc. then Page 1 would actually show as Page 1 etc.
I realize for some who use A-1, A-2, S-1 etc. the page numbering becomes moot as soon as you get E-4 etc. but it could still be distracting even then.
How many have used the Layout Templates and what do you think?
Here's a pic of what I'm talking about.
My first printable page is the site plan vicinity map but it shows as page 3 in the list of pages. Would be nice to show the template pages as different numbering somehow so the first printable page always remains page 1.The purpose of Government is to control the common resources, not the common man.

Agree, I don't see why the template pages get numbered.

I then when printing pages 1- 5 it's actually pages 4 - 8 because the first 3 are templates, if I can remember. Really? I guess that's why they call it beta.

Add a "Title" in your page info. DBX and you'll be able to see them in the layout browser along side of the page numbers.

I agree Larry. Template pages should be numbered T1, T2,... or 0-1, 0-2, ... or something like that.

Yes, then you can read the Titles but it doesn't solve the problem. I went to print and had to figure out which pages I wanted to print, not the
real printable pages 1-5 but the Layout's 3 - 7 page numbers. It works fine with one Layout Page but not worth adding an additional Layout Page for a simple mind like mine. The purpose of Government is to control the common resources, not the common man.

Template pages can be numbered in sequence just like any other sequence of pages. Just add a label in the template page(s) with a different text prefix (TP-#).
However, you still need a page number of some sort because you need to find the templates when the browser is closed. Templates do not have to be grouped together and they would be hard to find without some numbering system tied to the layout selection number icon.
Perhaps just remove the second "page label" from the layout label -- just to remove the confusion.Gerry

Yes I see all that Gerry and really empathize with the challenge the programmers had with this feature. Maybe it will work for those who are sharper than I, but I'll stick with a single template to keep the page numbers in their proper, coordinated sequence.

For me......
Just eliminate the "Page #" from the Project Browser - All I care about is the Page Label and Title. Templates are Identified as such (box with a T in it) and can have Titles. At the same time, change the <#> in the Tool Bar to show the Page Label and when entering a page to go to let me use the Page Label format.
This would be consistent for everyone. Larry just uses 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8..... while I use T-1, G-1, G-2, A-1, A-2, A-3..........
These are in any case Sheet Numbers aka Page Labels. Page Number has virtually no meaning to a set of CDs.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

I'd have liked it if the templates could have been in their own separate folder in the library browser.

Sweet Perry. Did Chief generate that? Or do you need to update it?
