    Commercial Kitchen Project

    Hi,

Is there any way to get commercial kitchen items for a commercial kitchen design???? (e.g. hand sink, prep sink, 3-bay sink, stainless counters, stainless roller carts, etc.)

If not, maybe someone can help me be able to create stainless steel counters that I can incorporate sinks, dishwasher.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Working in CA-X5

They are available in the librarys I have used them in the past, however they are a little limited. Also import from 3d warehouse

    Mark,

The Custom Counter Top tool can be used and you just need to change the material. For special items take Graeme's advice.

    Thanks,

From what I see in 3D Warehouse they are for sketch-up. Will those items work in CA-X5, and how do I get them into CA-X5? Have not used any 3rd party items in CA yet any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

"Restaurant Supply" bonus library if you have SSA. Otherwise, go with Sketchup. Can't import into the 64 bit X5, so you have to use the 32 bit version or get someone to convert for you.

Download the item you want, and then...In Chief, File>Import>3D symbol

You'll have to either import using 32-bit X5 (which you may have to download) or an older version of Chief (such as X3). Once the item is in your library though you can use it in 64-bit X5.

Also, there's one added complication...SKP (Skecthup) files are saved in different versions just like Chief, and only certain versions can be imported into each version of Chief (honestly don't remember which versions can be imported into which versions). If you download the free sketchup, you can save as the proper version though. Otherwise, you may or may not be able to import some symbols.

Sketchup is really a useful tool to have anyway, it would probably be a good idea for you to download it.

Thanks everyone for all the help.

I have downloaded some items from 3D Warehouse, now I just have to convert them.

I am going to download Google Sketch as that looks like fun and one can't know too many CAD programs.

    Thanks again,

If commercial kitchens are something you do regularly, then subscribe to KCL CADalog. Certain equipment manufactures offer access to their portion of the CADalog (Montague, Vollrath, and Advance Tabco come to mind) via their web sites. Unfortunately for Chief users, KCL is transitioning to Revit families from 3D DWG and DFX.
