    Photo Resolution

I'm trying to produce 2'x3' posters of a project to show how it will look when it is built. I tried exporting sheets as a jpeg, but when open them in a graphics program, crop them, save them at the highest resolution and then blow them up, they are grainy. 'Any idea how to get an exported image of sufficient resolution that I can use them for large photos to make posters? Thanks

Increase the size (dimensions) of the Ray Trace created - maybe 2-3 times your screen size. It will take longer but there will be more pixels. Save the Ray Trace directly as a JPEG and use that file.

If you raytrace them you can set whatever resolution you want whereas a rendering , you can't

Choose the size you want to print : 24" x 36"
Choose the resolution you want to print : 300 dpi ?
    Multiply : render size = 7200 x 10800 (24x300 by 30x300)

If you are going to print, especially at the high resolution required for a poster that size, save the file (export button in Raytrace) as a TIFF. This will not be compressed like a JPG and will not lose anything.

Thanks. I've been trying to do a raytrace, but the laptop has sat for a couple of hours and only got to 49% thru pass 1 with 24x36 size and 300 dpi. I suppose there's an optimum combination of size and resolution. The laptop is reasonable fast (i7-3610 w/8GB of RAM) so hopefully it's not the hardware.

Send me the file and I will kick off the render for you on my machine when I have 15 minutes of down time in my office today. Then we can see if it is the hardware.

Make sure to do a save via "back up entire plan" so you do not lose any textures.
