Windows 8.1
I downloaded windows 8.1 and now my colors are very "cartoonish" in camera views. The library item colors are normal in the library view. The raytrace view is fine. The cartoon camera image is a problem. What is the adjustment needed?

It sounds like a video driver problem. What is your video hardware?
We have had some issues with Windows 8.1 internally. Chief seems to run fine, but the upgrade process was somewhat painful and we had issues with a couple of systems where video driver incompatibilities caused near or complete failure of the OS.
I would urge caution in upgrading to 8.1. Make sure all of your data is backed up before doing so and be ready to devote at least 1/2 a day to the process as it is amazingly slow. Personally, I don't see any advantage of 8.1. If I had a choice I would have put off upgrading for a few months.
We will work hard to make sure X6 is compatible with 8.1. It appears that X5 works fine, but it is still early so things may come up that we haven't discovered.Doug Park

I know Nvidia had a recent driver update for 8.1. I'm not having any problems but I did install it.

I upgraded and wasn't happy. Had watermark issue, too many settings not saved and seemed slower- saw no advantage and very happy with 8 so reverted using a saved image. Will wait and may spring for a disc when (if) the time comes hoping to save settings reliably.

The issue I've seen so far is having to store and mount the install ISO locally. Otherwise we're getting incompatible CPU errors as Win 8.1 Pro/Enterprise is reading the NAS/SAS device as the local machine. I've never seen this before using Win 8 native mount or PISMO. Also complete fail on any virtualization: Hyper-V, VirtualBox, etc.
I agree with Doug; there are no compelling reasons to upgrade. So, unless you like bug hunting, wait a couple/few months until the kinks are worked out.

I'm getting a new machine and am going to load Win 7 instead of Win 8.
The builder had a few small problems with Win 8. Nothing to discourage others from using it but I'll stick with Win 7 and Chief for now.
Actually surprised I'm writing this as I've had pretty good luck with my other Win 8 machine and if I had not been advised differently I'd have loaded Win 8.The purpose of Government is to control the common resources, not the common man.
