Rotate Plan View Bugs - Poll
The Rotate Plan View tool makes it possible to change the orientation of a Plan (Site, Floors, Roof, Framing, etc) but it does this by rotating the coordinate system rather than just rotating everything around a point.
This means that if you rotate the Plan 90 degrees +/- that the x axis is vertical and the y axis is horizontal. In addition, any object that is subsequently mirrored is backwards as well. This creates confusion and potential errors while working with the model after it has been rotated.
IMO, this tool really needs to be given a makeover so that it rotates everything about the center point of the model/page rather than simply rotating the page and messing up the coordinate system.Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

I would vote in favor of making the edit area tool also move/rotate cameras. Then they could just get rid of the rotate plan tool.

I just move the north arrow, never had to rotate a plan, I always draw the front of the house down anyway

I guess it's just my tendency to draw with North at the top. That means that the front of the house can be anyplace.

It would appear that "Edit Area" is almost the same as Option #3 of the Poll. The only thing that seems to be wrong with "Edit Area" is that it doesn't adjust cameras. Position and direction of the cameras should be included in the Transformation.

Yes. I don't know why we can't copy Camera's, there must be some reason

Joe,
I have said it before - I think the Rotate Plan View tool should be deleted altogether - it can only lead to confusion.Glenn

I too prefer to draw in this manner. Lately, however I have done a number of narrow lot homes which drawn in this fashion has to be rotated to fit C-size paper and maintain a 1/4" scale. Most of my clients want me to keep the paper output as small as possible, and this one of the ways that I can accommodate.
If I know that I will be rotating a plan I try to do so early on or just try to draw rotated in the first place (which is difficult for me because of my habitual methodology).
So whether we rotate or reverse by edit area or whatever means, I would vote to retain the ability to do so.
