Saving Construction Plan drawn in CAD
A Construction Plan drawn using CAD tools will not save correctly in X5 - can anyone help? Everything drawn with the CAD tool with the CAD tools disappears after file has been 'saved as' closed and reopened?

Its probably there, are the layers you drew them in on. Did you draw it in the cad detail management screen or the plan screen. drawing in cad defeats the purpose of Chief, you can do it so much faster using walls, windows, doors etc.

Have you looked at the Layerset to see what's displayed?
But perhaps more important is why is the Construction Plan being drawn using CAD tools? Why not just create the model and send views to Layout?Joseph P. Carrick, Architect - AIA

Joe and Perry have offered good advice but we need to know more exactly what you did, how and why to more clearly help you.

'Saved As' what? If you are opening in AutoCAD then it's probably the background color. I get a lot of "It's not there!!" until the background color is changed, or the color of the layer.

Or try hitting the "zoom to extents" when you open in Chief.

Our students have to create an NKBA construction plan for the student competition. They started drawing in CAD plan footprint in order to create the construction symbols NKBA wants including studs, closed walls, hidden lines. How would we do this just working in normal Chief modeling?

Sounds like you need to learn from the beginning. Watch the online videos, there are several places to find free one's if you don't have SSA.

If your student created something in a cad detail, it is probably still there just not open when you open the plan. You can go to the cad detail management dialog to open up any saved cad details.
Also, I would not do this by drawing everything in a cad detail. I would create the model using chief's smart tools. As for getting more help, I would recommend that you start with the chief website and then call tech support if you run into problems:

Once you get past the very beginner stage, this forum will probably be a lot more useful.Kilgore Trout
