stepped foundation

OK< been doing kitchens and baths for too long. I need to step a foundation but cannot seem to
do it via a broken wall. The whole wall comes down. I just need to step the first 48" against an
existing foundation wall but it ain't working! Tried creating a room with an invisible wall to get it
to work but no dice. Can someone splain what I'm doing wrong? Ohhh LUUUUUUUCCCCYYY

No. Never even gave it a thought. I don't see how that would work. I just want one section of foundation to meet the house foundation, perpendicular for 4' and then step up for a crawl space for an addition. Why can't I just break the foundation wall and drag it down?

I do a number of step foundations. I take a cross section view from outside the house to show the elevation. I then select the FDN wall and use the break line tool. You will then be able to move the portion of the FDN wall you want. You should be able to see your temp dimensions when you select an edge to adjust it accurately.

Dennis,

Take an elevation view of the foundation wall. Click on the wall near the footing. Now use the Break Line tool (3) key and click on the bottom of the wall where you would like it to break. You now can pull down the that section. If you want to be more accurate, you can use the temporary dimensions to set the amount of step. Using the Break Line tool you can put in a many step as you need.

Isn't there a way for you to tell your foundation wall how high or low can be from point zero?

Thanks guys. I was using the break wall tool in plan view. The break LINE tool worked as you said. Don't know why the break wall tool didn't work though. I could select the separate section of wall with the break wall tool but when I moved it the whole wall reacted. I won't fight the system. Thanks for your help.
