    window arch - multi-segment

So I searched help, and the forum under "window arch segment" and several other terms but can't find anything dealing with multi-segment window arching across multiple windows. Here is my Chief model pic, and here is what I am generally working from on my 2D concept art.

May I ask if someone could point me in the right direction? I don't mind reading or watching videos to learn, but I don't know the phrase to use.

    Thanks.

What you are asking is actually several questions:

1, the curves will be effected using the "Arch" tabs of the Window Specification Dialog
    2. to get the exact muntin patterns you may need to draw your own custom muntins
    3. the curved architrave can be made in sketch up or perhaps a custom 3-D molding poly-line carrying a custom molding profile

Each step has its own procedures

I did this as an exercise back in X2, I think, and I drew the window in CAD and fit the various parts to it, then blocked the whole thing. Muntins were custom. Note the flaw in the casing. Never checked in later releases whether that bug got fixed.

OK, I just figured it out - you have to group the windows and mull them, then add the arch. Then like you say David add a custom muntin design.

Gene - did you make that window out of polys?

Does anyone have a trick with regards clerestory windows that have to straddle normal walls and attic walls? There seems to be a glitch in the wall when I force it.

JPC, great question. I did a vid on this, arches on multiple windows. I'll see if I can find it or I will do another vid.

Post a small plan. But if I know what you are referring to, it is a problem, I don't have an easy answer for you.

No, I did not make the window out of polys. I drew it in CAD to see how the geometry would go using all the manufacturer dims for sash and frame widths. I needed push-out awnings for egress in this case so used them as the means for determining overall size. Sorry to mislead. Build all, mull, block, then arch last on the blocked unit.

JPC, you don't have to block if you use this method.

There are a couple glitches above my arched windows that shouldn't be there. I see this is a common issue with doing arched windows with the combined method. Does anyone know how to get rid of these?

Otherwise I was going to report to Chief as a bug.

Does it show in a standard render? Sometimes things will display extra lines in a Vector that don't show up in a Standard camera.

Edit: A quick plan with some arch-tops don't exhibit the problem.

Thought it might have to do with suppressed casing, nope.

For some reason nothing I can do gets rid of this...maybe it has to do with the roof style? Here is the file...

For fun I rebuilt the file from new and when right to the window creation and it does it.
